Prizes founded by Pomeranian University in Słupsk in the Hands of Winners of the "The Power of Arguments" Contest
The 11 April 11 2024 witnessed the finals of the National English Language Contest "The Power of Arguments". The debate took place at the Tadeusz Tański Mechanical and Logistics School in Słupsk. Pomeranian University in Słupsk founded the main prizes.
This was yet another edition of the contest, which takes the form of a debate. Experts from our University have been supporting the organisation of the event for many years, participating in the jury's work. This year, the contest was organised under the patronage of the Rector of Pomeranian University in Słupsk.
On Thursday, five two-person teams competed, tasked with presenting the advantages and disadvantages of using artificial intelligence in the modern world. In addition to presenting arguments, the teams had to answer additional questions from the jury about the impact of technology on human life. This year, the team from the host school, consisting of Julia Góral and Jan Boryła, won first place, while the subsequent places were taken by teams from Secondary School No. 1 in Kościerzyna, the Economics Secondary School in Słupsk, and the Secondary Agrotechnical School in Słupsk.
The main prize, in the form of a Guaranteed Entry to the English Studies program at Pomeranian University in Słupsk, was awarded on behalf of the Rector professor Zbigniew Osadowski, by the Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation professor Marek Łukasik. The jury also included Dr Idalia Smoczyk-Jackowiak from the Department of English Studies and Adriana Drobko, M.A., the Head of the Practical Language Learning Center.
