TENSAI 2026 began with opening speeches delivered by the Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation, Prof. Marek Łukasik; the Director of the Institute of Philology, Krystyna Krawiec-Złotkowska, PhD, and Ms. Bogna Winiarczyk from the Department of Education in Słupsk, speaking on behalf of the Mayor of the city.

A total of 41 participants took part in the contest, testing their knowledge of the Land of the Rising Sun in areas such as basic Japanese language skills, kanji writing, Japanese gaming consoles, historical daimyo, districts of Tokyo, and much more. The winners received as many as fifteen main prizes, including Japanese language textbooks, Japanese-themed handicrafts, vouchers, books, the Shujinkou game, and a wide variety of Japanese treats. The grand prize winner, Mr. Krzysztof Kliszcz, additionally received a Tokyo Treat box filled with Japanese snacks, as well as a trophy funded by the Polish-Japanese Foundation.

The event was held under the honorary patronage of the Rector of Pomeranian University in Słupsk, Prof. Zbigniew Osadowski.

In addition to the competition itself, all attendees had the opportunity to sample Japanese cuisine, including onigiri, okonomiyaki, and kakigori, prepared by Daniel and Yumiko from Yaki Kingu. Guests could also enjoy high-quality matcha and purchase Japanese sweets and snacks thanks to Konbini, who traveled all the way from Wrocław to attend TENSAI.
