II Forum of Rectors from Poland and Uzbekistan
On 11 July 2024, the 2nd Forum of Rectors from Poland and Uzbekistan took place at the Warsaw School of Economics. The purpose of the event was to strengthen ties between Universities from both countries and to establish contact and discuss the scope of cooperation with new partners.
The forum was attended by representatives from the ministries responsible for higher education in both countries, as well as 13 Uzbek and 20 Polish universities. Pomeranian University in Słupsk was represented by the Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation, professor Marek Łukasik. During the forum, new contacts were established, and plans for expanding cooperation with our current partners were outlined. New talks were held with Samarkand State Medical University, represented by the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, professor Zafar Aminov.
This year's event is a continuation of the first Forum of Rectors from Poland and Uzbekistan, which took place in April 2023 in Tashkent. Last year's meeting provided an opportunity to present collaboration plans between universities from both countries and to establish stable contacts. Back then, our University was represented by the Rector, professor Zbigniew Osadowski, who signed several bilateral cooperation agreements. The agreement with Medical University in Samarkand has resulted in the implementation of a dual diploma program in cosmetology by both universities.
Uzbekistan is one of the most rapidly developing countries in Central Asia, focused on international cooperation. For years, it has been one of the priority areas of action jointly undertaken by CRASP - the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland and the Educational Foundation "Perspectives" under the "Study in Poland" programme.
The day before, on 10 July 2024, the annual Advisory Meeting of the "Study in Poland" program was held. The purpose of the meeting was to summarize the implementation of the "Study in Poland" programme in the past academic year, to adopt the action plan for the 2024/25 academic year and subsequent years, particularly concerning key recruitment markets, as well as to discuss current issues in the area of internationalization, primarily regarding visa issuance for foreign students.
