Authorities of our University visit IIE Foundation in New York
Following the awarding of a prestigious scholarship under the SRF (Scholar Rescue Fund) programme by the American Institute of International Education (IIE) to professor Natalia Kuzovova, who conducts research at the Institute of History, Pomeranian University in Słupsk has joined an elite international group of universities supporting SRF programme beneficiaries.
On this occasion, authorities of our University were invited to the IIE SRF Forum in Brussels and a meeting at the foundation’s headquarters in New York. At the Brussels forum, our University was represented by the Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation, professor Marek Łukasik, while in New York, the delegation was led by the Rector, professor Zbigniew Osadowski.
The visit to the Foundation’s headquarters in New York’s One World Trade Center was conducted as a working meeting. The topics discussed included the range of support offered by the foundation to researchers worldwide, as well as the detailed conditions for awarding scholarships. Foundation representatives also elaborated on the goals of the Scholar Rescue Fund programme. In turn, the Rector of our University presented the actions undertaken and ongoing at Pomeranian University in Słupsk in response to the war in Ukraine. The support provided by our academic community continues to be admired worldwide. The visit concluded with a declaration of continued collaboration in supporting the academic community and researchers globally.
The Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF) is an international financial support programme for researchers who cannot continue their work in their home country due to war, persecution, or other factors. The annual scholarships granted provide researchers with opportunities to pursue their research objectives at partnering higher education institutions worldwide. Established in 2002, the fund has supported 1,134 scholars from 62 countries who have undertaken their fellowships in 507 host institutions across 59 countries.
