Our University becomes a member of the Magna Charta Universitatum MCU2020 community
Pomeranian University in Słupsk has gone through a vetting procedure and has been approved to become a signatory of the Magna Charta Universitatum, an important document, which outlines the core of academic values that each signatory commits to observe.
The Magna Charta Universitatum is a document that was signed in 1988 by 388 university rectors on the 900th anniversary of the foundation of the University of Bologna. In the face of a changing world and society, the document took new form in 2020. This renewal allows the provisions of the document to address the current challenges and issues faced by universities worldwide, while preserving the principles and values contained in the original version.
The document includes global commitments to promoting the standards upheld by universities. The most important of these are the promotion of academic freedom, institutional independence, maintaining the link between research and teaching, and subscribing to social responsibility of academia.
We are a university that draws from traditional academic values, and we are particularly pleased to become part of this important initiative. We are constantly deepening inter-university cooperation and thereby strengthening our position. Together, we are developing the future of higher education!
