Celebrating Saint Nicholas’ Day with children at Pomeranian University in Słupsk
This past Saturday, our Department of National Security was buzzing with excitement as children took over the halls, replacing our usual student crowd. It was both great fun and a wonderful educational experience. We also came together to make a difference and spread the holiday cheer to those in need.
The St Nicholas’ Day event under the motto 'Science - Knowledge - Fun' attracted the children and grandchildren of the employees at Pomeranian University in Slupsk. More than 200 people attended the event, children and adults alike. "It's so much fun here!" - said delighted 5-year-old Maja, proudly showing her father a snail robot made out of bricks. - “The RC cars are my favourite!" explained 8-year-old Andrey.
There was something for everyone. The activities ranged from competitions and activities organised by the “Władca Lalek” Theatre, to decorating gingerbread cakes and making Christmas ornaments together with the staff of our University. The Rainbow Corner provided a space for creating handmade candles, while Coolturka group sparked imaginations with computer-controlled robots. And these were just some of the activities and games that our Promotion Office had planned for the little ones that day. Even the adults were able to try their hand at, for example, connecting a banana to the computer and using it as a video game controller. And what's a holiday celebration without Santa Claus? His presence added an extra dose of magic to the day.
But the spirit of giving did not stop there. Our Rector, alongside the university staff, generously presented Christmas gifts to the Youth Sociotherapy Centre and the wards of the District Youth Hostel. Director Małgorzata Duda-Banach graciously accepted these gifts, further spreading joy and warmth within our community.
As we look back on this heartwarming event, we are reminded that the true spirit of the season lies in coming together, learning and helping others. Saint Nicholas' Day at the Pomeranian University was indeed a day of learning, knowledge, and above all, great fun.
