A unique inauguration of the new academic year
On 12 October 2023, Pomeranian University in Słupsk held the official Inauguration of the new academic year 2023/2024. It was the first inauguration celebrated by a full, classical university.
The new academic year was officially inaugurated by the Rector, Professor Zbigniew Osadowski. In his inaugural speech, he emphasised the significance of the historic moment, and expressed his feelings of pride and optimism for future endeavours. The rector also thanked all the participants and guests who attended the event, but also all those who have contributed to the development of our Alma Mater.
The ceremonial part was followed by the inaugural lecture, delivered by professor Tadeusz Sucharski, titled "Polish Literature from the Soviet "Home of Captivity".
Employees of the Pomeranian University in Słupsk were honoured with medals awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland for their long-standing scientific and teaching work, as well as with the awards of the Rector for achievements in obtaining academic degrees and titles.
The event was attended by a number of our honourable international guests. These included members of the Polish parliament, representatives of government and local authorities, the diplomatic corps and numerous delegations from Polish and foreign universities, including from Georgia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Japan. We also hosted representatives of many educational, cultural and educational institutions, as well as the legal, medical and business professions, as well as from clergy.
An artistic complement to this historic day was a concert in celebration of the International Music Day, prepared by the staff and friends of the Department of Musical Arts of our University.
