54th Jubilee of Pomeranian University in Słupsk
The main celebrations of the 54th Anniversary of Pomeranian University in Słupsk took place on 1. and 2. June 2023, with the first day open to all inhabitants of the city of Słupsk, in particular schoolchildren and their families, and taking the form of the Science and Sports Day, and the second day culminating in the official Celebration Ceremony and an evening University Gala.
The Celebration Ceremony was attended by a number of important guests from the country and from abroad. Our local MPs, regional and local authorities, representatives of local business as well as rectors and vice-rectors from a number of national and international partner universities took part in the ceremony The Rector of our University, Prof. Zbigniew Osadowski, PhD, opened the festivities with the following words:
“Today's celebration is a landmark event for our entire academic community. It is with pride and joy that I can announce that for the first time in Słupsk we are celebrating the Jubilee of a full classical Pomeranian University. I am delighted that you are with us at this important and historic moment for our University. Welcome to our University [...]”
During the Ceremony, we received a unique gift from the Prime Minister of Poland, Mr Mateusz Morawiecki - a Commemorative Book in which the Prime Minister made the first entry. After the Celebration Ceremony, Rector and an MP and Spokesman of the Polish government, Mr Piotr Müller, unveiled the new name of the University, displayed on the wall of the main university building.
