First International Students’ Poetry Evening
On 2 February, the First International Students’ Poetry Evening took place in the Student Club of Pomeranian University in Slupsk. The event was organised by the Department of Modern Languages and the Student Research Club "Slavic Horizons" in cooperation with the Research Club of German Language Students. The event also featured the participation of students from Abai University in Almaty, Kazakhstan, who are currently studying in Słupsk as part of the "Double Degree" programme.
The event brought together an array of Pomeranian University students, all united by their shared passion of sung and spoken poetry. They presented their own original works and favourite poetic pieces in multiple languages including Polish, Kazakh, Ukrainian, English, Russian, German and Belarusian. Students from Kazakhstan played the dombra - a Kazakhstan's national musical instrument, and during the intermission they treated the guests and participants to authentic d Kazakh specialities.
The musical segment of the event brimmed with excitement as the international student community of our University engaged in a real intercultural musical dialogue, centred around the universal theme of love, expressed in Kazakh, English, or Russian. From timeless classics to captivating original compositions, students entertained the audience with soulful performances accompanied by guitar melodies.The evening not only fostered a sense of unity within the diverse Slupsk student community, but also served as a platform for discovering new talents and leaving an unforgettable impression.
